ALLIED Wholesale Electrical Supply, Inc. (AWESI) was founded by Bob McCurdy in 1985.

Bob had a couple founding visions that were never far from the forefront of his thought process. Have what the customer needed in inventory and treat the customer like family! He always said it takes a lifetime to keep a customer but only takes a moment to possibly lose one.  Bob and his son, Rob McCurdy worked side by side for 16 years never losing sight of these founding principles, focusing on our customers and a dedication to a strong inventory remained the key focus.

Rob McCurdy purchased the family business in 2009 from his father and continued building on those cornerstone’s.  After out-growing three warehouses, AWESI now has a 54,000sqft warehouse on the west side of Indianapolis and plans for another to be built in 2019. Since increasing the warehouse space AWESI has been able to accommodate all of AWESI customer’s needs.

In 2016, Rob purchased a plumbing distributor based in Bloomington, Indiana to further diversify AWESI and the products we offer. AWESI has grown to one of the largest Independent Distributors in Indiana and into the top 200 of all Distributors in the Country.

That growth should be heavily attributed to a proper initial vision, a greatly loyal customer base and easily one of the most knowledgeable staffs in the industry, even as both the customer list and employee list have grown exponentially the family atmosphere remains as intact as the early days!

At every one of our Branches: Indianapolis, Anderson, Bloomington and Lafayette AWESI prides itself on the knowledge of its employees, most of whom have been with AWESI for over a decade, never forgetting those founding visions!
